HISTORY:
Havana: In January of 1983 Bishop Hernandez and representatives
from the Holy Trinity
Cathedral in Havana visited Jacksonville and became members of the Cross
of Nails. In 1988 a Cross of Nails chapter was formed at the Holy Trinity
Cathedral in Cuba. In September of l990 Vice Provost Michael Sadgrove from
Coventry Cathedral, Executive Secretary Charles Kiblinger, and the Spruills from
Jacksonville visited the Cathedral in Havana to present a Cross of Nails.
Santiago: In September of 2000 Joachim von Koelichen from Coventry Cathedral and the Spruills from Jacksonville Cathedral took a Cross of Nails and 100 Spanish Prayer Books to St. Mary's Church in Santiago, Cuba.
ACTIVITIES: At Holy Trinity Cathedral in Havana, Cuba, noontime prayers and the Litany of Reconciliation are read daily.
Meetings: In Santiago de Cuba the Cross of Nails chapter of St. Mary's Church meets monthly for bible study, prayers and a common meal.
Projects/Events: A group of Presbyterian members of the Cross of Nails USA were welcomed at the cathedral in December, 2001.
For the past several years summer camps involving youth and young adults have been held to explore the concept of Reconciliation. These gatherings attract youth from all over the island and have been held in Santiago de Cuba and in Havana.
